California Public Utilities Commission Approval of Pit River Transaction
​
On January 26, 2023, The California Public Utilities Commission approved the encumbrance of PG&E's approximately 3,978 acre Pit River property with a Conservation Easement held by Shasta Land Trust.
Updated Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan - PG&E Retained Lands at Pit River
At its April 29, 2020 meeting, the board adopted the final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be retained by PG&E at the Pit River planning unit in Shasta County, California. The LCCP was updated on December 9, 2022.

The Pit River Retained LCCP describes how the proposed transactions and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

The draft LCCP was made available for public review and comment for a 30 day period from February 12, 2020 to March 13, 2020.

Transfer of Land to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
​The donation of land at the Pit River and Tunnel Reservoir planning units to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), and the establishment of a conservation easement held by Shasta Land Trust were finalized on February 28, 2023
Updated Revised Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan - Pit River (Lands to be donated to CAL FIRE)
At its September 19, 2018 meeting, the board adopted a final Land conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be donated to CAL FIRE at the Pit River and Tunnel Reservoir planning units located in Shasta County, California. The board approved a revised final LCCP on November 17, 2021 and updated the Final LCCP on July 27, 2022.
The Updated Revised Final LCCP describes how the proposed transaction and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

Transfer of Land to the University of California
​The donation of land at the Pit River planning unit to the University of California - Center for Forestry, and the establishment of a conservation easement held by Shasta Land Trust were finalized on August 31, 2022

At its May 2, 2018 meeting, the board adopted a Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be donated to University of California - Center for Forestry at the Pit River planning unit in Shasta County, California. The LCCP was updated on January 20, 2022.

The Updated Final LCCP describes how the proposed transaction and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.
Recommendations
At its November 16, 2011 meeting, the Stewardship Council Board of Directors recommended, collectively, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and University of California - Center for Forestry (UC) as the prospective recipients of fee title to approximately 8,320 acres of land in the Pit River planning unit, located in Shasta County. CAL FIRE was recommended for approximately 5,220 acres of land while UC was recommended for approximately 3,100 acres of land.

At its January 22, 2015 meeting, the board recommended Shasta Land Trust as the prospective conservation easement holder on the property.

Land Stewardship Proposals
​
On May 31, 2011, the Stewardship Council received three land stewardship proposals from organizations interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Pit River planning unit, one of four pilot sites.
​
The US Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the University of California prepared and submitted proposals and are responsible for the information contained therein.
​
Proposals are presented as is, and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of the information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The Stewardship Council fully reviewed and considered the proposals before recommending any organizations for donation of fee title to lands within the Pit River planning unit.

Please note that the Land Stewardship Proposals submitted by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Bureau of Land Management linked below concern several planning units including the Pit River planning unit.
