Transfer of Land to California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection


The donation of land at the Cow Creek planning unit to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), and the establishment of a conservation easement held by Shasta Land Trust were finalized on June 24, 2022.

Updated Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan - Cow Creek (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) Donated

 

At its April 29, 2020 meeting, the board adopted a final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be donated to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) at the Cow Creek planning unit in Shasta County, California.

The final LCCP describes how the proposed transaction and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

​

The draft LCCP was made available for public review and comment for a 30 day period from January 3, 2020 to February 3, 2020.

Retained

Permanent Protection of Cow Creek Planning Unit with a Conservation Easement - PG&E Retained Lands

 

On June 13, 2019, a conservation easement was recorded to protect the Beneficial Public Values of 66 acres to be retained by PG&E at the Cow Creek planning unit. The conservation easement is held by Shasta Land Trust.

Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan- Cow Creek (Retained)

 

At its January 25, 2017 meeting, the board adopted a final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for lands to be retained by PG&E at the Cow Creek planning unit in Shasta County, California.

​

The final LCCP describes how the proposed transaction and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

​

The revised draft LCCP was made available for a public review and comment period from October 19, 2016 to November 17, 2016.

Recommendations

 

At its September 15, 2011 meeting, the board recommended the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as the prospective fee title donee for 2,251 acres of land at the Cow Creek planning unit.

​

At its September 15, 2011 meeting, the board recommended theShasta Land Trust as the prospective conservation easement holder on the property.

​

Land Stewardship Proposal

 

On May 13, 2011, the Stewardship Council received one land stewardship proposal from an organization interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Cow Creek planning unit. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection prepared and submitted the proposal and is responsible for the information contained therein. Proposals are presented as is, and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The Stewardship Council fully reviewed and considered the proposal before recommending the organization for donation of fee title to lands within the Cow Creek planning unit.
